Hughes Spot On as Old Gold close on Saints

Carmarthen Town closed the gap for third place back down to five points with an excellent 3-0 West Wales Derby win at Richmond Park over Haverfordwest County. The Old Gold handed a debut to local seventeen year old Youth Team goalkeeper Alex Evans and he managed a clean-sheet against the Bluebirds.

The Old Gold were also boosted by the return of Craig Hughes, who's successful appeal against Saturday's Welsh Cup dismissal was overturned. Ironically, it was the striker from Llwynypia who scored the opening two goals, both from the penalty spot on 34 and 68 minutes. Former Haverfordwest midfielder Nicky Palmer sealed the win with a third, just two minutes from time. The Old Gold are now five points behind TNS in third place, but have two games in hand.
