Jason Oswell: 2016/2017 Biography & Statistics

English-born Oswell is a former Crewe, Inverness CT, Rhyl and Airbus man grabbed 18 goals in his debut season with Newtown in the 2014/15 season. He was second in the scoring charts and nominated for player of the season in the WPL. His blue-chip season was the 2016/17 campaign, when he was the Welsh Premier League Player of the Season and Golden Boot winner.

However, this drew attention from other clubs and also coincided with his qualification as a physiotherapist. Out of contract, Oswell chose to leave Newtown after agreeing terms with Stockport County in National League North.

Oswell, began his career at Crewe Alexandra, turning professional in May 2011 and had loan spells with Market Drayton, Nantwich Town and Rhyl before making his debut in the Scottish Premier League with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Released in January 2013, he rejoined Nantwich and had a few months with Australian club APIA Leichhardt Tigers before returning to Rhyl in September 2013. Oswell then joined Airbus UK Broughton the following January but was released four months later after being unable to break into the first team, and signed for Newtown in June 2014.

In all, he notched 54 goals from his 101 (+9) WPL appearances and also scored Newtown's last-minute home leg winner against Valletta in the Europa League and the opening goal in the away tie.
