Baker Makes Loan Move to Seasiders

Aberystwyth Town confirm the loan signing of The New Saints central defender Phil Baker until the end of the season.

Phil Baker joined TNS in 2005 having spent time in England at Tranmere Rovers and Exeter City.

One of the longest serving players at the club, Baker famously scored the winning goal against Cliftonville in the UEFA Europa League first Qualifying Round back in 2011. Baker also captained The Saints’ League Cup Final triumph against Bala Town in 2015.

Baker was unveiled as the Dafabet Welsh Premier League Clubman of the Year at the 2016 FAW Awards in Cardiff back in October.

However, this campaign has seen limited game time for the experience player with just six starting appearances and six from the subs bench. The centre-back joins Matthew Bishop's Aberystwyth side for the last seven matches of Phase Two action in the Play-Off Conference with the Park Avenue outfit initially looking to beat the drop.

Aberystwyth sit in 10th place just two points away from Rhyl in the relegation zone as both clubs prepare to meet at the Lilywhites home patch this coming Friday night in a massive six pointer.
