Anthony “Taff” Williams is leading Aberyswyth Town to the top!

Taff’s Career

In May 2022, Anthony Williams was appointed first-team manager by Aberystwyth Town Football Club, which they welcomed with open arms. Taff joins the management team after leaving JD Cymru Premier side Cardiff Met University. In addition to his long career in the Football League and receiving international honours, Anthony made 17 appearances for Wales U21 for the period 1996-2000, saving two first-half penalties from future World Cup winner and football legend Andrea Pirlo.

Before transitioning to scouting for organizations like Stoke City, Anthony worked as an assistant manager at Crawley Town and Portsmouth between 2013 and 2014. Anthony took on roles with the FAW in this period as a UEFA B Licence & B Goalkeeping Licence Coach Educator, as well as Head Coach with UK Football Trials – roles he still holds today.

A Fruitful Career

Anthony became an Associate Football Tutor at Cardiff Met University in 2017, as well as the Assistant Manager of Cardiff Met. He obtained his UEFA Pro Licence and received a Master’s degree in Sports Coaching Pedagogy from Cardiff Met University in 2021. Commenting on his move to Aberystwyth Town FC, Taff says that it is a great opportunity to move to such a prestigious team.
